April truck tonnage is solid, reports ATA The ATA’s advanced seasonally-adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index headed up 1.1% from March to April at 112.5 (2015=100), following a 1% (revised from an original estimate of 1.1%) decline in March, which came in at 110.1. Compared to April 2017, the SA index was up 9.5%. ATA said this increase represents the largest annual increase going back to October 2017. And on a year-to-date basis through April, the SA index is up 8% annually, topping 2017’s 3.8% annual increase.
Diesel average heads up for ninth consecutive week, reports EIA Rising 3.8 cents, the average price per gallon now stands at $3.277, topping last week’s $3.239 average as the highest weekly average since the week of December 29, 2014, when the weekly average came in at $3.213.
